Tractatus

1     The world is all that is the case

Facts, not things 1.1

Totality of facts determines what is and is not the case 1.12

The facts in logical space are the world

2     What is the case "fact" is the existence of states of affairs

State of affairs (state of things) is a combination of objects (things) 2.01

The sum-total of reality is the world 2.063

2.1               We picture facts to ourselves

Model of reality 2.12

Elements of picture are representatives of objects 2.131

Picture is a fact 2.141

2.16          If a fact is to be a picture, it must have something in common with what it depicts

Picture represents from outside 2.173

Correctly or incorrectly represents 2.173

2.21          A picture agrees with reality or fails to agree; it is correct or incorrect, true or false

3.144     Situations can be described but no given names

       Names = points

       Propositions = arrows (sense)

o     Name means an object 3.2003

o     In proposition name is representative of an object 3.22

3.23          The requirement that simple signs be possible is the requirement that sense be determinate

3.4      A proposition determines a place in logical space

4     A thought is a proposition with a sense

4.001     The totality of propositions is language

4.003     Most of the propositions and questions to be found in philosophical works are not false but nonsensical

4.0031   All philosophy is a "critique of language"

4.022     A proposition shows how things stand if it is true.  And it says they do so stand

o     Understanding = know what is the case if true

o     Can understand without knowing whether true 4.024

4.461     Tautologies and contradictions show

o     They say nothing

o     Lack sense, but not nonsense 4.461/4.4611

6.522              There are, indeed things that cannot be put into words

Manifest

Mystical

6.53           Say nothing except what can be said, i.e., propositions of natural science

6.54  Anyone who understands me eventually recognizes [my propositions] as nonsensical

"Steps"to climb up beyond them

Throw away ladder after climbed up

7     What we cannot speak about we must pass over in silence
